2021 Ford Expedition

The Expedition sports five unique trims for its 2021 lineup, including Platinum, King Ranch, Limited, XLT, and XL. The XL features the extended-length Expedition Max that offers more space than the standard trim. The XLT includes all of the XL's features but seats up to eight people. The Limited increases ground clearance with 20-inch alloy wheels. The King Ranch uses larger 22-inch wheels, a stunning gray exterior trim, and the King Ranch badges and emblems. The luxurious Platinum trim comes with all of the features of the previous trims with additional satin aluminum exterior trim, roof rails, crossbars, and more.

Every Expedition is powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine. The XL and XLT trims pump out 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The high-end Platinum model gets a boost to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The 10-speed automatic transmission seamlessly transitions between gears and provides powerful rear-wheel drive with optional four-wheel drive.

The Expedition utilizes an independent rear suspension for a smoother ride and better handling when compared to a live-axel setup. Drivers enjoy an engaging yet comfortable driving position and a precise steering response. The Expedition tows upwards of 9,300 pounds in all but one trim level. The extended Expedition Max pulls only slightly less for more internal space; it has a towing capacity of 9,000 pounds.

The 2021 Ford Expedition has a modern angular dashboard with large air vents for an efficiently climate-controlled area. Each three-row model has 15 cup holders and power-folding rear seats. Higher trims feature massage function seating, leather door-trims, multicolor seats, premium leather steering wheel grip, and a real wood center console.

Its hard plastics maintain Ford's rugged feel and are easy to clean. Each row has sufficient legroom for even the tallest of adults. Go for a bench seat second row or upgrade to a pair of captain's chairs for more comfort. The base model has an incredible amount of cargo space available, but no other SUV beats the Expedition Max in terms of internal cargo space. Both back rows fold forward to expose up to 105 cubic feet of room.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2021 Ford Expedition a five-star crash rating, the highest rating possible. The Expedition added advanced safety technology in the form of active driver assistance features, including pedestrian detection, standard automated emergency braking lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
